CHLEF ex Orl�ansville, is a town situated in the North West of central Algeria, between both more big cities, Algiers and Oran. It is limited to the North by the Mediterranean Sea, to the South by the town Tissemsilt, in the East by the town Tipaza and Ain Defla, on the West by the town Relizane, the total surface of Chlef being 4791 Km2 and account 907.356 inhabitants (estimation 2000).
It is essentially characterized by a diversified relief constituted by two ranges, Mountainous Dahra and Ouarsenis, a plain of Cheliff in the centre and a littoral.

It takes a place to note that Chlef is a touristic region. Besides its coastal strip which spreads out on more than 120 km that is 10 % of the whole Algerian coast, its touristic wealth justifies itself more considering the existence of a diversified relief and the presence of the bits of bread of Aleppo and heather which extend over thousands of hectares.
Such a coastal region includes the sites of TIGHEZA, BENI HAOUA, TERARNIA, OUED El MALAH, the sites of MAINIS and the MASSIF of the OUARSENIS. The flora and the fauna of this massif are very important, the flora presents an important forest cover. Thus dominant essences are the cork oak, the holm oak and the Pine of Aleppo.
